Pike's Peak or bust

We probably remember that line from cartoons, but Colorado is home to Pike’s Peak (great history with that) and many more wonderful sites.

Most of us know about Vail, certainly for its skiing, but did you know it has a Ski Museum and its not about Olympics. Then of course Denver, the literally Mile High City presents the visitor with the Old West and modern technology, side by side. If you love the history of the old west and characters like Buffalo Bill then this stop is a must for you. Don’t worry, everyone will find something to please them from museums to amusement parks.

For you archeology fans, Denver is a gold mine. A visit to Dinosaur is an experience that will require many photos so bring an extra memory card.

Colorado offers us the romance of the past, including steam engine train rides and rodeos as well as ski slopes and museums.

If you’re staying in town then here are a few fun things to do this week:

Try out the Blair Mansion Mystery Dinner Theater

For you Parrotheads, Jimmy Buffett will be at Nissan Pavilion

If four-legged friends are up your alley, try the Warrenton Horse Show

Whatever your interests, take time to enjoy. If you don’t have time to figure out where to go or what to do call us at 703-350-2999 or email andrea@uniquetravelevents.com  and we will create your unique ‘Getaway’. Visit our website for more info.

Ask yourself this question the next time you are ready to make travel plans whether for work or pleasure, ‘what am I worth’, or perhaps what is my time worth? Would I rather spend it searching the internet for hotels and flights and figuring out how to entertain myself and my family or would I rather let someone else do that for me so I can make money or enjoy time with my loved ones?

Travel agents save you time, and their fees are paid by the hotels, cruise lines and vacation companies. So why waste your time, leave the ‘surfing’ to us.

Dwelt a miner forty niner…

Can you remember where that line is from? I’ll make it easy, Clementine, one of those songs you sang around the campfire or on a roadtrip. But Clementine is not the focus of this week’s blog, but her location is, California.

The diversity of this state can be related to its size. For us east coast denizens, picture driving from the northern tip of New Jersey to halfway down the North Carolina coast and that is the length of California.
Its climate and culture range from the rustic and cool north to the waves and star-studded south.

If you are planning a trip out west The Avenue of The Giants is a site not to be missed. Of course any wine lover must take in the complexity of the Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley.

Young or old Disney is an icon that holds a place in everyone’s heart. Take a day to visit Disneyland.

I could spend days writing about all the places to visit in California. Let’s just say it’s worth the trip and more, whether you want to try and rub elbows with a star in Hollywood, take a look into the Gold Rush days, marvel at Death Valley or ride the waves the one thing you can be sure of, you won’t be bored.

277 Miles end to end and more than a mile deep

In case you haven’t guessed it’s the Grand Canyon. Here’s the test, where is the Grand Canyon? Answer: Arizona

The Grand Canyon should be an item on anyone’s ‘bucket list’.  Whether you want to see it from the sky or the back of a mule or on your own two legs this breathtaking site offers a lot more than rock and dirt. The culture and history surrounding this area is about as immense and deep as the site itself.

Whether you are into rides with wheels or hooves, like to watch the stars in the sky or the denizens of the desert Arizona has something to satisfy any hankering.
