Whales, Witches and Wedges

Orlando has it all.

Imagine a city that is one big playground, for just about everybody.  During our recent trip we hit the highlights and know that a summer trip would offer an even greater wonderland.

There be whales at Sea World, and that is just the start. Seaworld offers a full day of fun, from being splashed by Shamu to dining amidst the sharks. Yes you can feed some of the sea creatures but also dine in the middle of an amazing aquarium. This park is more than entertainment, Seaworld is taking true steps to make the planet a better place for our deep sea friends and ultimately us.

On to wedges. Lush greens under a blue sky and warm sun, a place of relaxation, fun and friendship. Golfing can be your passion, your pastime or an exciting new sport. Orlando offers dozens of courses for all levels of players. The kids can spend the day at Disneyworld and you can be at Disney golf course, there are at least three.  Orlando Golf is a great source for any golfer. The website gives you a list of the notable courses and which one is right for you. To make it really easy, visit Orlando Tee Times and set up your tee time.

Witches. Take your choice, the evil Disney witches that have delighted us for decades or the new kid on the block, Harry Potter. We had to see it all. Though I’m not much on roller coasters the newest ride at Harry Potter’s Wizarding World, The Forbidden Journey was great. Walking around the Wizarding World truly felt like you were in Hogwarts and Diagon Alley.  A note about Universal Orlando, if you like rides then the Islands of Adventure is for you, but if you are movie fans and looking for something less heart pounding but great fun Universal Studios is the ticket. The City Walk has lots of restaurants and a huge cineplex.

Disneyworld is an enchanting visit for everyone, but the younger members of the family definitely appreciate the Disney flair the most. Although our day at the Animal Kingdom melted my heart. The terrific environment provided for the wild beasts who would otherwise suffer is heartwarming. The family of gorillas is truly a site to behold.

Summer Fun

Time to build up that Vitamin D and enjoy the sun. Whether you just sit out in the yard and sunbathe or splash the waves of the Atlantic, summertime is a great time to be outside.

There is nothing like a walk on the beach in the moonlight after parasailing over the waves. There are beaches up and down the East Coast from Maine to New Jersey to Virginia and down to Florida. Sip some wine and listen to a local band as you let the waves wash your stress away.

Of course summer is also a time for roller coasters and fishing and picnics. The options are endless and all build that good emotional health as well as getting us outside.

This is usually vacation time so from road trips to cruises most folks are taking time with family and friends. Don’t forget to do this for yourself.

Unique Events can take the stress out of planning your Getaway and give you the experience of a lifetime. Let us make it easy and fun for you. Just call 703-986-0934 or email to start your journey of fun.

Romance and Roadtrips

Roadtrips are great for romantic getaways. The destinations are limited only to the distance you wish to travel. On the east coast you can escape to the mountains, from the Poconos to Shenandoah in the mid-atlantic area to the ski slopes in New England. If its beaches you like they range from Maine to Florida.

The question becomes what to do while on that 3 hour or more journey. Books on tape are an option if both of you enjoy the same type of literature and of course music, whether its CD, radio or Sirius or XM. But what about conversation? This is becoming a lost art and when traveling its easy to fall into the habit of talking about day to day life, the kids, the job, the bake sale, all the things you are trying to escape from.

Consider this- If you have a destination, pick up a book or magazine about it, learn the history while you drive and  then determine what you might like to see when you arrive.

You can also have some fun and learn a little more about each other. For example, there’s the What if? game. What if, it were 1890? Think about how you would get where you are going, how much longer it would take to get there, etc. You’d be amazed at the interesting conversation that can ensue.

Also, If you could be a character from history or a book or a movie, or even a movie star, who would you be and why? What would you do? How would your character indulge in romance? You might want be adventurous, like Ameilia Earhart or mysterious like Mata Hari. Perhaps James Bond or Daniel Boone, it doesn’t matter who you choose, just have fun imagining what could happen.

This is also great for a date night when the conversation starts to slow.
